Oxygen Therapy

Level 3 Award in Oxygen Therapy - 6 hour duration

This course is suitable for all first aiders and healthcare professionals, as well as those in a high-risk environment where such medication is available, and will teach them how to recognise and treat anaphylaxis safely and effectively.

Certification: Successful candidates receive a certificate, valid for 3 years.

Level 3 First Aid at Work- 3 day duration 
  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
  • Heart attacks
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Eye injuries
  • Fractures and spinal injuries
  • Choking
  • Control of bleeding
  • Chest injuries
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Diabetes
  • Shock (including anaphylaxis)
  • Asthma
  • Head injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Sprains and strains
  • Stroke
  • Burns
  • Epilepsy
  • Resuscitation
  • Bandaging
Successful candidates receive a certificate, valid for 3 years.

Automated External Defibrillators Course (AED): 4 hour duration 

  • Recap of personal safety
  • Assessing the incident and patient
  • DRABC check and sending for help
  • CPR and use of AED on a casualty
  • General guidelines for using a defibrillator
  • Recording of information (sample report form)
  • Handover to the emergency services
Participants will be awarded a ‘Basic Life Support and AED’ certificate.

Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work : 1 day duration 
  • The role of a first aider
  • Managing an emergency
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Bleeding (minor and severe)
  • Burns
  • Choking (adult)
  • Fainting
  • Health and safety (first aid) regulations
  • Accident reporting
  • Resuscitation (adult CPR)
  • Seizures (adult)
  • Shock
  • Unresponsive casualty
Successful candidates receive a certificate, valid for 3 years

Medication Awareness

Paediatric First Aid: 12 hours in 2 days 

  • First aid priorities
  • Managing incidents
  • Basic life support adult, child and Infant
  • Choking
  • Casualty examination
  • Unconsciousness
  • Fractures
  • Control of bleeding and shock
  • Asthma
  • Eye and ear Injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • First aid kits
  • Bites and stings
  • Effects of heat and cold
  • Febrile convulsions
  • Medical emergencies including: anaphylaxis, epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell, diabetes, meningitis and other serious sudden illness
  • Regulations
  • Recording and reporting
Participants will be awarded a ‘Pediatric First Aid’ certificate, valid for 3 years.

Level 3 Awards in immediate management of anaphylaxis – 6 hour duration 
  • Auto-injector
  • Resuscitation (CPR all ages)
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Unresponsive casualty treatment
  • Primary survey
  • Understanding and recognizing allergic reaction

Medication Awareness:   4 hour duration
  • Knowledge on how to improve care delivered to people with dementia
  • Knowledge on how to support relationships of people with dementia
  • Understanding of the reasons for behaviour we may find difficult
  • Knowledge of the different types of dementia
  • Understanding of what it may be like to have dementia, etc.

End of Life: 4 hour duration 

Key principles of palliative care and end of life care
• The principles of good practice within the process of advance care planning
• The purpose of assessment in end of life care
• What is included in a holistic assessment
• The core steps in the assessment of symptoms to reach a diagnosis
• The principles of good communication in end of life care


Dementia awareness: 4 hours 
  • Knowledge on how to improve care delivered to people with dementia
  • Knowledge on how to support relationships of people with dementia
  • Understanding of the reasons for behavior we may find difficult
  • Knowledge of the different types of dementia
  • Understanding of what it may be like to have dementia, etc.
Personal and Pressure Care : 4 hours 
  • The role of the carer when toileting a service user
  • Incontinence and its control
  • Pressure sores and how they can be avoided
  • The importance of personal hygiene procedures
